Where the preset rates come from

Checked against Etsy's own pages on 2026-10-06. Etsy can change its fees at any time — if a rate on your statement differs, edit it above.

Not included: deposit fees in some countries, Etsy's own currency conversion of listing fees, Pattern, shipping-label pricing, Share & Save credits, refunds and chargebacks, and income tax. Not affiliated with Etsy.

How the fees are calculated

  • Order total you chargeitem price × quantity + shipping + gift wrap
  • Transaction, regulatory, Offsite Adsrate × order total
  • Payment processingrate × (order total + sales tax) + fixed fee
  • Profitorder total − VAT owed − fees − your costs

Worked example (US seller)

A $30 item with $5 shipping: listing fee $0.20, transaction fee 6.5% × $35 = $2.28, processing 3% × $35 + $0.25 = $1.30. Fees total $3.78. With $13 of costs you keep $18.23, a 52% margin. With no fees at all you'd keep exactly $35 − $13 = $22.

Frequently asked questions

What fees does Etsy charge on a sale?+

Under Etsy's Fees & Payments Policy (checked 6 October 2026): a 0.20 USD listing fee per item, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping and gift wrap, and a payment processing fee that depends on the country of your bank account — 3% + 0.25 USD in the US, for example. Some countries also have a regulatory operating fee, and Offsite Ads orders carry a 15% or 12% fee.

Is the transaction fee charged on shipping?+

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the price you display plus what you charge for shipping and gift wrap. US sellers don't pay it on sales tax; outside the US it's charged on your price including any VAT in it.

How do Offsite Ads fees work?+

If a buyer clicks an Etsy offsite ad for your listing and orders within 30 days, you pay 15% of the order total — or 12% if your shop has made 10,000 USD or more in the past 365 days. Shops under that threshold can opt out. Turn the option on only for orders that came from an offsite ad.

How is the break-even price worked out?+

Every fee here is either a percentage of the order or a fixed amount, so profit rises in a straight line with your price. The calculator solves for the item price where profit is zero — using exactly the fees, costs and tax options you've set.

Why isn't my country listed?+

The presets cover common seller countries. Choose “Another country” and enter the rates from Etsy's Payments Policy for your bank account's country — all fee fields are editable.

Is this an official Etsy tool?+

No. It's an independent calculator. Etsy can change its fees at any time, so check the linked policies or your payment account if a figure looks different.
